Kristine Cherry has been designing jewelry and wearable art since 1993 when her designs made their debut at the 51st WorldCon in San Francisco. That memorable 5-day convention, she sold hundreds of dollars in specialty earcuffs whose design was inspired by the then popular Star Trek t.v. show "Star Trek: Deep Space 9". Her success was due to her working on designs at the table where people saw what she was doing and would request custom colors. She could barely keep up with the orders, they were coming in so fast! |
Realizing there was a large audience for such cosplay ("costume play") accessories, she continued not only selling her designs in dealer's rooms at conventions from San Francisco to San Diego, but to also submit her designs, now expanded to accessories (jewelry boxes, hair picks, fans), cosplay masks and cell phone/iPod purses in art shows. In 1996 she won "First Place 3D" in show at Gallifrey 7 in Van Nuys, CA, for her "Snowflake Obisdian" necklace. Kristine lives in the San Fernando Valley with her husband, two very artistcally-talented roomies and her three cats. Her current projects include creating custom beaded bottles and it is her hope that these can help non-profit organizations raise money for their causes. If after viewing her work in the gallery, you would like to commission a custom piece, you can contact her here. |
